A number of our learning communities are currently developing their own Reconciliation Action Plans (RAP) which encourage to proactively and positively engage with significant reconciliation events. As part of developing our own LESNW office RAP, we have determined as a staff to attend the Reconciliation SA Apology Breakfast that is held each year in Adelaide on or near the date in February of the signing of our National Apology.
The Apology Breakfast is just one of many events and communities are encouraged to plan their own activities to help students better understand the importance and meaning of the Apology. However, the Apology Breakfast is particularly noteworthy as it attracts excellent presenters and is always attended by well over a thousand people from diverse workplaces and situations. This year is especially significant in that it will mark 10 years since Prime Minister Kevin Rudd signed the Apology on behalf of the people of Australia.
As learning communities, we all value learning. As an office, we have found our attendance at the Apology Breakfast has grown our collective knowledge and understanding and given us new insights we might otherwise have missed. We are learning.
The Apology Breakfast is currently showing on the Reconciliation SA website as sold out but we have a very limited number of seats available at our LESNW table if you would like to join us, 6:45am to 9am on the morning of Feb 12th 2018 in the Adelaide Convention Centre. Please email email@example.com asap to indicate your interest.
