We are writing to encourage you to hold a student casual day in Week 10, Term 3 in support of Lutheran Community Care (LCC).
LCC is your local Lutheran community organisation across South Australia and Northern Territory. We need support and have noticed the incredible social impact young people are having in the community. We would love to have our local Lutheran school students come on board to build awareness about the wonderful work our organisation is doing. We provide over 50 programs ranging from foster care, working with children and families, homelessness, counselling, emergency relief and op shops.
On Sunday 30 September, Lutheran Church celebrates Christian Community Care Sunday. This day is an opportunity to:
- recognise and acknowledge the many people within our congregations who support others,
- remember the call of Christ to reach out to those in need,
- thank God for the privilege of living in a community and having enough to share,
- celebrate the work carried out by Lutheran Community Care with and on behalf of the Church.
It would be wonderful to integrate this celebration into schools the week preceding this. Casual days can be held with proceeds supporting LCC. Students would be able to donate a non-perishable item, if they wish. All funds and goods raised will go directly to supporting our community programs. As the majority of our programs are working with children and families, it is a great opportunity for students to learn more about other children living in challenging circumstances and the ways in which they can support them through our services.
We are more than happy to provide additional promotional materials and/or a staff member to speak at an assembly about our organisation.
We appreciate you taking the time to consider this proposal. We look forward to working with you creating strong, caring communities inspired through the love of God.
