On Monday 23rd October pedagogical leaders of PYP LESNW schools met at St John’s Lutheran School Eudunda for the final meeting of the year. Paula and Coralie led the session, sharing an example of how they have empowered students to take responsibility for what occurs in the school grounds during play time with transformational outcomes for students, teachers and parents. The group spent time in the playground during lunch break seeing the students in action and discussing with them their ‘projects’. This was a brilliant introduction to discussions regarding “learner agency”, focussing on staff and students.
Further generative discussion continued including reporting requirements for PYP schools, STEM within a transdisciplinary framework with Paula sharing the initiatives at St John’s including collaboration with Angaston and Clare Lutheran schools, and the identification of areas for further investigation in 2018. The group have decided to continue this rich professional collaboration around a shared pedagogical stance in 2018.
