MATHEMATICS PROFESSIONAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITY: Contemporary research based practices for effective teaching of mathematics
On Monday 16th October staff from Lutheran learning communities including Cornerstone College, Navigator College, Encounter Lutheran College, St Peter’s Lutheran School, came together to develop their thinking around ways of engaging their students as mathematicians using research based practices.
The areas explored included: What is research revealing about learning mathematics? Growth Mind-set in a mathematics classroom, what helps and what hinders learning, differentiation and grouping, developing a learning culture, task design, digital provocations, planning around conceptual understanding and addressing ACARA requirements.
