During the past two years GSLC Darwin has made an intentional commitment to build leadership capacity within and across the three campuses. The College identified ‘creative’ ways of releasing leaders throughout the day, once per Terms 1, 2, 3 i.e. 2020 curriculum leaders released, 2021 well-being leaders and heads of sub-schools released. During 2021 the curriculum leaders also met after school for 90 mins each term to build on their learning from the year before and explore new tools and strategies which combine systems thinking, tools and strategies from the Compassionate Systems Framework to engage with the leadership capabilities in Growing deep.
Gathering feedback from all participants will provide data and information regarding impact of these sessions and where to next individually and collectively.
‘To be able to share, listen and change the culture of our meetings from task focussed to care focussed was priceless and the thing I valued the most.’
‘This was not forced, no path was forced upon me. I was invited. I was given agency around the process for me while prompted with provocations of thought, articles, the reflections of my peers. I have better skills for listening. I have more tools for examining conversations with staff, outcomes of meetings etc‘
‘I use the strategies and tools that we explored often in meetings I run with staff and in classes I teach. I have found the ladder of inference, the way we show up to meetings, the four-player model and the mental models to be so helpful…Its great that we all have a shared language around these tools and strategies now as this helps us all in our daily interactions with each other as we go about our work together.’
‘I have slowed down and am not in a rush to reach an end point. I embrace the now for what it has to offer. I protect my time for thinking and open my time for listening.’
