As we roll into Term 4, the LESNW Board wishes all of our Learning Communities every blessing, especially as you jump between finishing off 2019 and planning for 2020 (and beyond).
A number of matters are currently before our Board and association which I’d like to share with you.
LEA / LESNW: At our most recent Board meeting, LEA Executive Director, Lisa Schmidt and LEA Board Chair, Brett Hausler, joined us for a discussion on our current reality as well as our preferred futures. This was a fruitful meeting and will be followed up with increasing communication and collaboration into the future.
Standing Committees of the LESNW Board
Under the LESNW Constitution adopted in January 2019 the LESNW board has two standing committees, namely Governance and Finance Risk and Audit. The Governance committee has been in operation under a terms of reference since the adoption of the new constitution.
At the recent LESNW board meeting the terms of reference for the Finance Risk and Audit Standing Committee were adopted and these can be found on the LESNW website at this link (bottom of the page). The previously known ‘Finance Committee’ has been therefore disbanded and has been rebirthed and repurposed as the Finance Risk and Audit Committee. David Wilksch together with LESNW Board member, Paul Bert will lead this committee and we are grateful for their inputs into our association and learning communities.
2020 LESNW Budget: Brad Richmond presented a draft LESNW Secretariat Budget at out last meeting and it was resolved that levies to Learning Communities would not be increased in 2020. Our finances this year have been strong, but a challenge remains to assist Learning Communities in times of need (which is often financial). How the System Development fund and Secretariat budget are used for that remains a topic of consideration for the board.
Strategic Planning: With the help of Richard Owen, our Board will engage in continued Strategic Planning this term and through that time, input from Learning Communities will again be sought.
Every blessing to you for this term.
