These are certainly busy days in our Learning Communities and your work and service is acknowledged and appreciated by our LESNW Board.
Levies: A resolution of the Board has been to not increase LESNW levies for 2020. This is in acknowledgement of a significant rise last year, but also that in many of our learning Communities finances are tight. The 2020 LESNW secretariat budget was approved at our last meeting and this will support some secretariat staffing changes that will improve our capacity with Complispace and financial advice for Learning Communities.
We acknowledge the work and contribution of Heather Waring to our Board and association over many years. Heather’s warm and friendly personality will be missed but we wish her every blessing for the next chapter in her life.
Strategic Planning: In recent times our Board has two more strategic planning sessions which have been really fruitful. Early in the new year we plan to reach out to Board Chairs of Learning Communities in our association with two fold aim of sharing governance matters with them as well as seeking input/feedback on our strategic directions. We also intend to engage with Principals and Directors on this at the PaD meeting on the 14th Feb 2020 as well. Future opportunities will be provided to offer feedback on this important strategic planning process.
A major paradigm shift with the development of this Strategic Plan is that it will be a plan for the ‘association’ as a collective, rather than the secretariat in isolation.
Finance Risk and Audit Committee Terms of Reference – The FRA committee is a key advisor to the Board and we are really appreciative of their work and input. In order to ensure good governance and process we have reworked and adopted a revised Terms of Reference for that committee which is shared with you via the LESNW website at this link.
LESNW SA Enterprise Bargaining – Negotiations continue and clearly will continue into the new year. The EB team representing employers is considering the current industrial climate and will respond appropriately in the new year ensuring alignment (as best as possible) between all facets that contribute to our preferred work place culture and ethos, including the Enterprise Agreement.
Every blessing for the coming weeks.
