As you are likely aware, due to COVID-19, the 2020 NAIDOC Week was postponed from its usual July dates and rescheduled to November 8 to 15 2020. With the original dates falling during months when many schools were involuntarily re-focused to deal with a pandemic, it is possible NAIDOC Week has been largely forgotten. The good news is that the re-scheduling means that the opportunity is not lost.
There are quite a few websites worth checking out for ideas and inspiration if you haven’t had a chance to plan. Reconciliation SA and Reconciliation Australia are always good starting points.
The other resource that should be in your school by now has come from SBS Australia. Available as the physical resource book that has been mailed to schools it is also easily accessed from the SBS website. This is a really good starting point for teachers and students from Foundation to Year 10 with Activities, Key Questions, Resource sources, Artwork etc. Regardless of plans for NAIDOC Week it is a resource worth engaging with in our school response to the General Capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities.
