Members of LESNW Education Team recently attended the Learning Environments Australasia Conference with the theme, the 3Rs in the Exponential Age: Reflection, Relevance & Revolution
Are we ready? Are you ready? Are our learning communities ready for an educational revolution?
Seeking to acknowledge the past. Learning from those who have gone before, changing the things that were not successful, embracing and enhancing the productive, effective ideas.
What do current learners need now and into their future, to prepare them for a world that requires a new set of skills, such as innovative thinking, collaboration and creativity.
What do we need to challenge today, so that we are ready for tomorrow? Revolutionaries can see a future that others can’t even imagine.
Some provocations for us all….
- How are you helping to develop community? What does this mean?
- How are students valued in your community?
- Are students empowered?
- How do we empower students?
- Do students have a say in their learning?
- Are students included in decisions about their school?
- Could students sit on a staff selection panel?
Dr Jordan Nguyen shows us a snapshot of our future. I would encourage you to take the time to watch at least the start of this two part series that was aired on Catalyst, Becoming Superhuman Part 1. Note this is technology that is already two years old.
An education revolution is needed, it is here. Are you ready for the revolution? The Australian government is. They are asking for the revolution. Have you read the Gonski 2.0 report?
What does an education revolution look like? Why is now the time? What can you do as a leader to embrace the revolution?
Peter Hutton asks us to consider these EdRevolutionary Principles
- Deep integration with community
- Success for ALL
- High quality adults
- Co-constructed learning
- Student empowerment
The LESNW Ed Team are excited and eager to work with schools to bring an education revolution to reality in our Lutheran Schools. We hope this challenge excites you also. Please make contact with a member of the LESNW Ed Team if you would like to explore further ways of bringing about the revolution!
