As term 3 comes to an end in the next couple of weeks the LESNW Council hopes that you will be able to find some time of rest and recreation in preparation for term 4.
Council met this week and as we make preparations and plans to restructure, it was a poignant comment Corrin made when she said, ‘Our next meeting is the last of our current structure…’ Certainly we give thanks to those who have served over the years in the current representational model that we have had.
Governance Committee and Constitutions – The LESNW Council recently endorsed a Terms of Reference for a Governance Committee that will be enacted to support the process as we move to a skills based council. We will engage Piper Alderman to ensure that our new Constitution serves us appropriately and in doing this we will also engage them to develop a suite of Constitutional models that learning communities can use as templates as they review their Constitutions.
ACLE 6 – the date for this has been flagged as the last week of term 2 in 2021. (7-9 July 2021) Many learning Communities will already have this week set aside as a PD week – those that don’t are encouraged to consider planning for this.
LESNW Enrolment Census Data – recently we have received data regarding our enrolment status across the LESNW sites. You will be interested to know that the change in our enrolment status in the last 12 months has been 0.0% ! Despite three learning communities closing in the last 12 months, this is a generally positive result, especially in light of general trends in non government schools.
LESNW Strategic Planning – it is still our intention to survey sites to gather feedback as we plan for the coming period. However, in the coming weeks it’s our plan to meet with leaders in the clusters/zones to have a conversation prior to the issuing of the survey. Currently the challenge is to meet with sites that aren’t in regular cluster/zone groups – that is, the more regional sites. If you have any thoughts about possibilities of catching up, we’d love to hear them.
Liberty College, Two Wells – this is still before the District Church Council. In recent times there has been considerable dialogue between DCC and LESNW regarding this as we ensure all stakeholders are confident of the project’s success. As a LESNW Council we are most confident of the planning, research and preparation that has gone in to the opportunity that has been placed before us.
Executive Director’s Leave – John Proeve will be taking some well deserved leave from the end of week 9 for the following week (20th – 30th September). We wish John and Di safe travels and a restful break.
