From 1 July 2019, everyone working or volunteering with children must have a valid child-related clearance through the Dept of Human Services Screening Unit.
The WWCC replaces the DHS/DCSI Screening and National Police Clearances.
- Registered teachers are required to apply for a WWCC when their current registration as a teacher is due for renewal.
- Non-teaching staff members holding a current DHS/DCSI Child Related Employment Screening will need to apply for a WWCC before it expires.
- Please refer to the AISSA attachment below for how it applies to specific categories of employees and volunteers.
The General WWCC fee is $113.30 inc GST ($62.15 inc GST for students)
WWCC for volunteers are free.
More information about fees is at this link.
As this new requirement comes into play, the question of whether the learning community or the individual should bear the cost has arisen. Teachers should still be responsible for meeting the cost as it is linked to their teacher registration. Learning communities may wish to consider whether they meet the costs for non-teachers, having regard to existing practices, employment contracts and the broad use of such checks beyond the learning community.
