Last Thursday 1st November, thirty leaders from LESNW learning communities met with Professor Martin Westwell, Chief Executive of SACE and academic researcher at Flinders University, to engage with the changing demands on school education and what this means for learning and assessment.
Professor Westwell’s presentation challenged, provoked and inspired the group to consider the following premise that “What the world cares about is what students can do with what they know as well as what to try when they don’t know what to do”. He spoke about the importance of the General Capabilities and the need to connect them explicitly to the achievement standards in the Australian Curriculum, and the developments in SACE.
