The biannual SALLS regional meeting took place at Navigator College, Port Lincoln on May 17th. 18 delegates from LESNW and schools (including representatives from Crossways and Living Waters WA) were welcomed not only by glorious weather but also by educators who shared innovative practice. The day began with the Principal – Steve Jude – sharing his experience of the Principals’ Learning Lab, which led the delegates to reflecting on their own practice. Utilising Theory U, leaders engaged meaningfully, collaboratively and honestly around their personal capabilities in relation to Growing Deep. Leaders were also privileged to hear how Navigator College is innovating through the curriculum, particularly with regards to Project Based Learning in Science and Maths in the Middle Years.
As the SALLS group is moving into a new paradigm in 2019, it was particularly noteworthy to see delegates expressing their vulnerability, vision, courage, humility and a desire to co-create, all of which are foundational for effective system leadership. We thank all of the network and their schools for supporting this opportunity, in particular, Navigator College and staff.
