Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary was founded in 1969 and is home to the world-first feral proof fence, built to protect the native animals living within The Sanctuary. Warrawong was closed in 2013 but re-opened last year under the new ownership of David and Narelle, who are now bringing the Sanctuary back to life. Rich in history and nature, The Sanctuary offers a range of experiences that are both educational and entertaining including school camps, excursions and incursions.
In parallel with the business of The Sanctuary, The Warrawong Sanctuary Foundation has also been established. The Foundation is an independent charity to fund conservation endeavours involving education, science and research, primarily within South Australia, under the management of an independent Finance Committee. The Foundation is currently funding koala rescue projects within the Adelaide region.
