As Lutheran Learning Communities we have clear intentions around Indigenous Education and how we value all students articulated in Growing Deep – and further emphasised through ACARA, the Australian Curriculum and AITSL. As the Regional Office for SA, NT & WA learning communities we have expressed our commitment to reconciliation through our LESNW RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan) which is currently at the end of its 3 year ‘life’ and will now enter a review and renewal period to keep our intentions current and relevant. As an aside, we would encourage all learning communities to develop their own RAP which we have experienced to be a very strong influence on culture.
Together, these influences have prompted the creation of a new Indigenous Education Reference Group which will have a somewhat different focus and membership model than the previous committee. Drawing on a wider experience and skills base it is hoped the new group will help drive us to new achievements that will have clear support benefit to learning communities and our students.
The new Indigenous Education Reference Group that met for the first time this week is comprised of the following people …
Jasmine Miller – a previous employee of Crossways Lutheran School and more recently Port Power where she was the Aboriginal Program Coordinator in the Women’s Aboriginal AFL Academy. Jasmine has very recently completed her teaching degree.

Shona Reid – the relatively newly appointed CEO of Reconciliation SA having previously worked on the Legislative Council within the Parliament of South Australia as the Executive and Research Officer for the Aboriginal Lands Parliamentary Standing Committee.
